We are currently seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will assist with tax preparation, perform routine and complex accounting services, prepare and analyze financial reports, and deliver responsive, professional client support. This role offers an excellent opportunity for meaningful professional growth, practical hands-on experience, and exposure to a broad variety of tax and accounting engagements serving both individual and small business clients.

Note - this role can be located at the Williamsburg or Richmond office and can be an in-person or hybrid position.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare individual, business, trust, and estate tax returns.

  • Assist with bookkeeping, payroll, and accounting engagements.

  • Reconcile bank, investment, and general ledger accounts.

  • Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules.

  • Assist with tax planning projects and client advisory services.

  • Research tax and accounting issues and communicate findings to supervisors.

  • Organize and maintain client records and workpapers.

  • Respond to client requests in a professional and timely manner.

  • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of engagements.

  • Participate in continuing professional education and professional development activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.

  • CPA license or CPA candidate preferred.

  • 1–3 years of public accounting experience preferred.

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and tax concepts.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

  • Experience with tax and accounting software is a plus.

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Commitment to providing exceptional client service.
